DESCRIPTION:
EPOPRIM is a fast-drying, two-component epoxy primer with outstanding adhesion to metal surfaces. Due to its excellent adhesion and the presence of effective anti-corrosion pigments, EPOPRIM provides reliable long-term protection against corrosion, ensuring durable performance even under atmospheric exposure. The primer is resistant to chemical agents (diluted alkali and mild acid solutions, solvents, gasoline, oils, etc.).
FIELD OF APPLICATION:
Intended for priming steel, aluminum, and galvanized surfaces exposed to atmospheric conditions, prior to overcoating with epoxy or polyurethane enamels. Indoors, or in atmospheric conditions without intense sunlight (e.g., under a canopy), it can be used as a standalone, hard, and wear-resistant coating with good resistance to chemical agents. Also used for coating metal garages, fences, railings, gratings, beams, etc. Recommended for use in coating systems with polyurethane and epoxy enamels. The use of alkyd and urethane-alkyd enamels as a topcoat is not permitted.
It is permitted to use this product for coating concrete floors in industrial food processing facilities, with moderate abrasive loads.

Storage period: | 4 years from the date of manufacture in tightly closed manufacturer’s container at temperatures not exceeding +30°C. |
Packaging: | 0.65 L (0.905 kg), 2.6 L (3.607 kg), 3.3 L (4.5 kg), 11 L (15 kg) |
Surface preparation:
Steel surfaces. Rust and dirt must be removed from the surface to be painted beforehand by abrasive metal treatment (sandblasting or shot blasting, manual machining) to a degree of purity of Sa 2½ or St 2. In cases where complete cleaning of the surface from corrosion products is not possible, it is necessary to clean at least the loose rust layer and perform the maximum possible surface treatment with abrasive tools such as sandpaper, steel brush, power grinders, etc. In this case, a possible reduction in the anti-corrosion effectiveness should be taken into account. Prior to painting, aluminium and galvanized surfaces should be degreased and lightly treated with fine-grained sandpaper or a weak abrasive blast, washed with 5% aqueous ammonia solution and dried.
Use:
Before use, stir the semi-finished primer product thoroughly and add the hardener: 18 parts by weight of hardener to 100 parts by weight of semi-finished product. After thorough mixing, the primer should be left for 45 minutes before use. If necessary, dilute the primer to working viscosity with solvents 646, 647, using the following amounts of solvents by weight: 5 to15% – when applied with a paint brush or roller; 10 to 20% – when applied with an air sprayer; 0 to 10% – when applied with airless spray equipment. Use the same solvents to clean the tools. Apply with a paint brush, roller, spray gun or airless spray equipment with a nozzle diameter of 0.011″ to 0.019″. The air and paintable surface temperature during painting must not be lower than +10 °C, relative air humidity – not higher than 85%. The drying time and permissible curing times until the application of the next coats of primer or enamel are given in Table 1. If the time to repainting is longer than specified, additional treatment of EPOPRIM surface with fine sandpaper is recommended to improve the adhesion of subsequent coats. The consumption of EPOPRIM primer is shown in Table 2. Taking into account the strong influence of the thickness of the primer film on the anti-corrosion properties of the coating, the recommended thickness of the primer coat after drying is not less than 50 μm.
Storage:
Store in a tightly sealed container at a temperature not exceeding +30 °C.
