PROTEKSOL 50, a quick-drying anti-corrosion primer-enamel on a modified alkyd polymer base, is intended for painting steel surfaces indoors and outdoors. Forms a hard semi-gloss coating with high abrasion resistance. Recommended for painting metal structures, production equipment and other objects without prior priming when there is a need to speed up the painting process. PROTEKSOL 50 primer/enamel can be tinted in the RILAKOLOR system. Base A can be used in white or tinted in light shades. Base C can be tinted in dark shades.
Stir the primer/enamel thoroughly before use. Dilute to working viscosity with white spirit or VAITSOL solvent if necessary: up to 5% by volume when applied with a roller or brush. Application of the primer/enamel by spraying is allowed only in painting facilities of industrial plants and workshops. The same solvents are also used to wash work tools. The air and paintable surface temperature must be between +5 ºC and +35 ºC. Air humidity – not higher than 85%. Steel surfaces must be cleaned from dirt and corrosion products (rust) and degreased before applying the primer/enamel. In cases where complete cleaning of the surface from corrosion products is not possible, it is necessary to clean the loose rust layer as a minimum and perform the maximum possible surface treatment with abrasive tools such as sandpaper, steel brush, grinding machines, etc. In this case, a possible reduction in the anti-corrosion effect should be taken into account. Apply the primer/enamel in 2 coats on clean dry surfaces with a brush, roller, sprayer or airless spray equipment (with a nozzle diameter of 0.011″–0.017″). Drying time of each coat at +20 ºC is 10 hours (at +10 ºC – 14 hours). The recommended dry film thickness for one coat is 50–70 μm (primer/enamel consumption is 9.1–6.5m²/l per coat, excluding losses during application). Store in a tightly closed container away from direct sunlight.
