The quick-drying primer on an epoxy ester polymer base is intended for priming steel, galvanized and aluminium surfaces for outdoor use. Contains effective anti-corrosion pigments. Alkyd and urethane alkyd enamels on a white spirit base (PENTAPRIM, PENTALUX T, PENTATOP UNIVERSAL, NEOSPRINT 30) as well as water-soluble RIALKID enamels are recommended as top coats after application of the primer.
Steel surfaces must be free of dirt and corrosion products (rust) and degreased prior to application. Prior to priming, galvanized and aluminium surfaces must be degreased, lightly treated with fine sandpaper or light abrasive blast, washed with 5% aqueous ammonia solution and dried. The air and treatable surface temperature must not be below +5 °C. Air humidity must be not higher than 85%. Apply the primer in 1–2 coats on a clean dry surface with a brush, roller, sprayer or airless spray equipment (with a nozzle diameter of 0.011²¸0.017²). Dilute the primer with a solvent (SOLVEKS, SOLVEKS SPRINT, xylene) if necessary: up to 8% by volume when applied with a roller or brush. Application of primer by spraying is allowed only in painting facilities of industrial plants and workshops. The same solvents are also used to wash work tools. The drying and curing times until the application of next coats are shown in Table 1. Information on primer consumption for different coating thicknesses (excluding losses during application) is given in Table 2.
