DESCRIPTION:
Two-component polyurethane enamel with exceptionally high weather resistance. Forms a glossy, hard, wear-resistant film that retains high decorative and protective properties for an extended period (up to 15 years with proper surface preparation and primer selection). The enamel maintains its gloss for a long time.
FIELD OF APPLICATION:
Designed for long-term corrosion protection of metal surfaces exposed to atmospheric conditions (including marine and industrial environments). It can also be used for the maintenance painting of transport and other equipment.
TECHNICAL PARAMETERS:
Colour: | White (TAL base) which may be tinted in to light shades. TDL base may be tinted to dark shades using “TEMACOLOR SCALA” tinting system. |
Gloss: | 70 – gloss, 50-semi gloss |
Drying time at 20ºC temperature: | 16 hours |
Consumption: | • 12 – 14 m²/L for a dry film thickness of 40 µm. • 8 – 10 m²/L for a dry film thickness of 60 µm |
Solvent: | Solvent 2290, 646 or butyl acetate |
Tools used for application: | Brush, roller, paint sprayer. |
Storage period: | 48 months in tightly closed manufacturer’s container |
Packaging: | URETOP 70 (base TAL)-0,9 l (0,87 kg), 2,7 l (2,61 kg), 9,0 l (8,7 kg) URETOP 70 (baseTDL)-0,85 l (0,87 kg), 2,55 l (2,6 kg), 8,5 l (8,7 kg) URETOP 50 (baseTDL)-0,85 l (0,9 kg), 2,55 l (2,7 kg), 8,5 l (9 kg) ( Weight and volume are shown including hardener ). |
PREPARATION OF PAINT FOR USE:
Before use, the enamel base should be thoroughly mixed and combined with the hardener in the following ratio:
If necessary, the enamel can be diluted with Thinner 2290 or butyl acetate to the working viscosity, but not more than 20%.
The mixed enamel with hardener must be used within 6 hours.
PREPARATION OF SURFACE:
PRIMING OF SURFACE:
The surface should be primed with one of the following primers depending on the metal type:
Recommended painting systems are shown at Table :
Surface for painting | Primer | Enamel | Painting system
Steel | Used material | EPOPRIM | URETOP 70 URETOP 50
Number of layers | 1 – 2 | 1 – 2 | 2 – 4
Recommended dry coat thickness | 100 – 200 mm | 40 – 60 mm | 140 – 260 mm
Aluminium or galvanized steel | Used material | VL – 02 | URETOP 70 URETOP 50
Number of layers | 1 | 1 – 2 | 2 – 3
Recommended dry coat thickness | 10 mm | 50 – 70 mm | 60 – 80 mm |
APPLICATION:
Apply in 1-2 coats at an air and surface temperature of at least +10°C and a relative humidity of no more than 75%. Intermediate drying between coats – at least 4 hours at +20°C (or 12 hours at +10°C).
Full curing time – 16 hours at +20°C (or 24 hours at +10°C). The coating reaches maximum hardness within 4 days.
TOOL CLEANING:
Use Solvent 2290, 646 or butyl acetate for cleaning of tools.
